Our Vision
The San Bruno Education Foundation (SBEF) is an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation dedicated to raising money to benefit the children in the San Bruno Park School District, grades pre-k through eight. We are committed to helping students receive a quality, well-rounded education through key enrichment programs. Examples of key initiatives include music, art, technology, summer programs and professional development opportunities for teachers and staff. Since the organization is completely staffed by volunteers, donations raised directly impact San Bruno schools and students.
Our board of directors consist of parents, community members and people just like you. We all believe that a strong community is made up of healthy and thriving public schools. We have all joined the board of directors to help drive this mission.
Meet Our Board
Heather Latta,
President
Heather has worked for over a decade for the federal government, serving as an auditor of international affairs and trade programs. She is passionate about public education and wants to help support the district in providing equitable access to engaging educational experiences. She and her husband have two children in the San Bruno Park School District.
Alexis Petru,
Vice President
Alexis has spent the last 15 years helping companies, government agencies and publications communicate the message of sustainability better. She joined the SBEF because she believes strongly in the importance of public education and has always been impressed by the "City with a Heart's" sense of community. She and her husband have two children in the San Bruno Park School District.
Annie Yoshiyama,
Treasurer
Annie has worked in finance and accounting at biotech and tech companies in the San Francisco Bay Area for almost 20 years. She is a licensed CPA in the state of California. Annie enjoys being involved with local youth-focused organizations. She and her husband have two children in the San Bruno Park School District.
Ashley Bragg,
Secretary
Ashley has spent more than 15 years working in healthcare and community education, with a focus on supporting patients and families facing serious illness. She joined the San Bruno Education Foundation because she believes strong public schools strengthen the entire community and wants to help expand access to engaging and equitable programs for all students in the San Bruno Park School District. Ashley and her husband live in San Bruno and have one child in the District.
Scott Curtner,
Board Member
Scott is an IT Audit Leader for Wells Fargo and also manages rental investments in California, Colorado, and Arizona. His goal is to increase opportunities for all children in the San Bruno Park School District, almost 50% of whom are in low-income families. He and his wife have two children who have graduated from the San Bruno Park School District.
Ryan Bravo,
Board Member
Ryan is the co-owner of The Bravo Insurance Agency, an agency serving the Bay Area community since 1979 and founded by his father, Ralph W. Bravo. Ryan also holds a Series 65 license and provides financial planning services, bringing a strong background in business, community relationships, and long-term stewardship. A San Carlos native, Ryan has called San Bruno home for the past seven years. He joined SBEF because his daughter Aubrey, a first grader at Allen Elementary, has a deep love for music and dreams of becoming an artist. He believes wholeheartedly that the enrichment programs SBEF funds are what help kids like her pursue what they love. He and his wife Laurel also have a two-year-old daughter, Addison, who will one day follow in her sister's footsteps in the San Bruno Park School District.
