Time for some more FAQ’s about the San Bruno Education Foundation!
Question 3: What is the difference between the education foundation and my school’s parent-teacher organization? Do I need to donate to both?
Answer: Parent-teacher organizations and local education foundations help bridge the gap left by state funding to cover the costs for an exceptional education for every student.
Both parent-teacher organizations and education foundations are critical to your student’s academic success.
Your school’s parent-teacher organization raises money for your specific school’s field trips, special events, playground equipment, classroom supplies and campus beautification.
Education foundations fund programs and resources for students across the entire district, including programs that impact YOUR child’s education, while creating equity and consistency across all of the schools.
Programs our foundation (SBEF) funds include:
· Music education for every K–5 elementary student and support for Parkside music programs
· STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math)
· SEAL (Sobrato Early Academic Language) program
· GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) program
· Professional development for teachers
