As San Bruno families “shelter in place” with the rest of the Bay Area to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus, we know many of you want to know how you can help our neediest community members during this difficult time.
These unprecedented circumstances have illuminated a glaring disadvantage for students within our community without equipment or Internet service to access online learning resources. Not only will these students be disadvantaged over the near term remote learning, this systemic disadvantage will contribute to the achievement gap over the course of their education by limiting their ability to access educational resources outside of school hours, with potential lifelong consequences.
The San Bruno Education Foundation is launching a campaign to raise funds for Chromebooks and hotspot devices to ensure all San Bruno students are connected to their online educational curriculum during the Covid-19 crisis and beyond. When schools are able to open their doors again, we want students without Internet at home to continue to be able to access the same online materials that their classmates can use.
Furthermore, funding will be needed to assist our dedicated teachers in developing online education resources both now and in the future.
You’re already keeping your neighbors safe by staying at home and washing your hands; now you can make a difference in the education of San Bruno’s children.
Please make a tax-deductible donation today. Please do what you can in these challenging times to invest in every child’s future.
