Bryan Vander Lugt, the SBEF’s Vice President, was motivated to join the SBEF as he realized that “the kinds of great schools we all want for our children require a strong foundation of community engagement and support,” he says.
With a twin son and daughter at Parkside Intermediate, Bryan is a research scientist and project manager at Amgen. He served as a naval officer before earning his Ph.D. from Harvard University.
During his 2.5 years on the Board, Bryan is most proud of strengthening the SBEF’s relationships with the San Bruno community, including families, businesses, and philanthropic and civic organizations, to build a better support system for our schools.
Bryan believes that the “incredible passion” of the San Bruno community will continue to transform our schools and allow our children to reach their full potential.
“Our schools are faced with not only the challenges we all recognize,” Bryan says, “but also great opportunity over the next few years to evolve into a source of community pride and an inspiration to lifelong learning in our students.”
