The SBEF conducted an online survey of district parents in the spring, and music education was one of the top enrichment programs that respondents wanted us to support.
We’re happy to report that San Bruno schools already have a thriving, comprehensive music education program, thanks to funding from the San Bruno Education Foundation, San Bruno Community Foundation, Capuchino High School Alumni Association and our PTA’s.
Music education in San Bruno begins in elementary school with weekly music classes for transitional kindergarten through 5th grade and optional after-school music instruction for 4th and 5th graders. Students at Parkside Intermediate School continue their musical development with weekly band and orchestra classes. Once students graduate from the San Bruno Park School District and enter the local high school, Capuchino, they have the opportunity to play with the school’s concert orchestra, symphonic band, chamber strings, jazz band and more.
