We’ve told you about the music education programs we support, but did you know the San Bruno Education Foundation also funds Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) enrichment programs?
We’ve previously sponsored afterschool coding clubs for 3rd–5th graders across the District, as well as professional development programs to show our teachers how to bring the latest STEM teaching methods into the classroom.
Last year, we supported the District’s very first extracurricular science program that culminated in a science fair for 3rd–5th graders with over 50 participants and a science fair at Parkside with 50 participants.
For our Giving Tuesday 2019 campaign, we raised $10,000 for additional STEM training for elementary school teachers and supplies for Parkside’s science classrooms. We also secured a $25,000 grant from the San Bruno Community Foundation that will support even more K–8 STEM programming and professional development.
Stay tuned for more STEM initiatives from the SBEF!
